Charles Swoope![]() 1934 - 2007 Dr. Charles Carroll Swoope passed away Tuesday February 13th surrounded by his wife Lynne, of more than 50 years and their two sons, Scott and Douglas. Charlie was born in 1934 in Jersey City, NJ to Charles & Mae Swoope, and graduated from Union H.S. Charlie attended the University of Florida, where he and Lynne met and received his initial dental training at the University of Maryland, where he graduated summa cum laude in 1959. He entered the U.S. Public Health Service shortly after graduation and was stationed during his internship in Seattle. Additional stations included Mobile Alabama, Boston Mass, and New Orleans. Charlie and his young family returned to the Northwest in 1967 where Charlie eventually, became the Director of Graduate Prosthodontics at the University of Washington where he taught until retiring as a full professor in 1980. Charlie went into private practice of Prosthodontics after retiring from the University and practiced until his retirement in 1998. Congenial, charitable and scholarly are attributes he shared with his siblings Patricia and Vicki, his children Scott and Douglas, and his grandchildren Kevin, Charlie, Nicole and Alexandra. Charles Carroll Swoope was a remarkable man, loving husband, and father, we will all miss him. A celebration service will be held at Bellevue First United Methodist Church of Bellevue on Tuesday February 20th at one PM.
