Synopsis:
Drawing Connection is a participatory, interactive presentation/workshop. Combining Wendy MacNaughton's own stories of drawing in the field with and a hands-on in-the-room creative experience, Wendy teaches concrete active looking and listening skills, while helping people let go of perfectionism, bias, and expectations. Drawing Connection is grounded in the context of drawing and visual storytelling, but the practices she teaches can be applied anywhere, with anyone. Participants will use Wendy’s unique approach to drawing and interviewing to connect with one another, make a friend, all while boosting their creativity and confidence.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn and practice active looking techniques to see beyond bias
2. Learn and practice active listening techniques to better understand other people’s experience
3. Learn empathy building skills to better understand for others people’s experience
4. Enjoy doing all the above while connecting with a new person to deepen connection and build community.
