 Curtis Photo

Dr. Don Curtis

Dr. Curtis received his DMD from the University of Oregon in 1981, finished his Prosthodontics residency at USC in 1983, and received his Certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics from UCLA in 1985. Dedicated to a life of education, he served as an Assistant Professor at UCSF from 1986 to 1992 and as an Associate Professor from 1992 to 1999 before becoming a Professor in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences where he currently still instructs. He also taught as an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA and USC from 1983 to 1984. Dr. Curtis also was Chair of Faculty Council, Chair of Admissions Committee, Representative from the School of Dentistry to the Long-Range Development Plan (LRDP), President of OKU Honor Society, Chair of Educational Policy Committee, Chair Dental 4th Year Student Status, and Chair of Executive Committee of Student Status from 1993 to 2003.

Not only an educator, Dr. Curtis and his wife are both deeply involved with their local community, actively supporting their school and church fundraisers. He has cooked and delivered over 4,600 meals over the course of 11 years for the homeless shelter in Almeda and provides free consultations to patients with prosthodontic needs of the Bay Area Tumor Institute.

Dr. Curtis has been a member of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics since 1998. Since then, he served as Executive Councilor from 2002 to 2006, was President during 2012, and currently serves on the Leadership Nomination Advisory Committee for the 2024-2025 term.

As an educator, community leader, and long-standing beloved member of the PCSP, I can think of no one more deserving of the Gulick Award than Don Curtis. He is an inspiration to all and I am proud to present this prestige to him.
