Implant Exposure- An Opportunity for Artistry

Time: Jun 20, 2026 11:25 AM - 11:45 AM PDT
Speaker: Nicole Olivares

Synopsis:

Implantology today is focused on preserving natural tissue contours by utilizing minimally invasive extraction and immediate implants with provisionals. However, many implants require a staged approach due to preexisting bone or tissue deformities. Sites that undergo multiple surgeries and require that an implant be buried, can have complicated tissue irregularities that present esthetic, health, or hygiene complications.  Implant exposure is a too often overlooked opportunity to correct these issues. I am going to share with you how we evaluate and treat these problems and the specific techniques we use to expose implants to achieve a healthy and beautiful outcome.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discover in what scenarios staged implant surgery is utilized
  2. Understand the hard and soft tissue anatomical goals for healthy, stable implants
  3. Evaluate implant site characteristics and deficiencies
  4. Learn methods used for implant exposure and when they may be applied
